Welcome to Global Feminisms at the University of Michigan

Quilt made by Ross

The Global Feminisms Project (GFP) collects interviews with women's movement activists and women's studies scholars in sites around the world. The archive includes over seventy interviews with women from Brazil, China, India, Nicaragua, Poland, Russia, and the United States.

Access to the interview transcripts and videos is available in the original language or in English.

Thematic films:

In the first phase of the project in 2002, short overview films were made for the initial four country-sites.  We hope to add similar films for other sites in the near future.

Flavia Agnes was at the University of Michigan in September 2017 to participate in the Seeking Social Justice in South Asia Conference.

GFP intern Rebecca Rosen interviewed Flavia, who was first interviewed for the project in 2003. We look forward to posting the transcript and video soon. Flavia continues to do important work at Majlis Legal Centre to educate and support women in understanding and pursuing their rights.
